No equipment?
No problem. Our partner for sports equipment and ski rentals is the best: Intersport Glanzer. We recommend renting right at the Giggijochbahn IS Glanzer Valley Station Giggijochbahn or at Glanzer in the centre.
White, silent, idyllic: Equipped with special shoes to avoid sinking into the fresh snow, more and more snow-shoers are meandering through pristine landscapes in Sölden. Whether with friends, family, alone or with a guide, it doesn’t matter. 50 kilometres of well signposted, groomed winter hiking trails for numerous active and relaxed moments in the Ötztal winter.
With moderate difficulty, here you take a leisurely hike to the Gaislachalm in 2 hours. Then continue to the Silbertal and thirdly, to the Sonneck. These meadow huts are also open in the winter and love to greet snow-shoers for a little break and to recharge their batteries before they go forth again.
Ambitious winter hikers also find their paths to happiness in Sölden: Such as on the route to the Stallwiesalm on Sölden’s so-called “Quiet Side” on the valley side across from the ski area. Just take a right at the hotel entrance toward the social centre and you’ll conquer a stretch of 4.5 km and 550 vertical metres and snowy, enchanted coniferous forests before you are welcomed into one of the most original alpine huts in the entire Ötztal valley. The Stallwiesalm is closed on Tuesdays.
Families with kids love the winter hiking route to the Moosalm. At a length of 1.5 km and a hike time of about 45 minutes, this winter hike is one of the easiest around. Once you arrive at the top, you should absolutely pop into the Moosalm hut, because it is known for its traditional Tyrolean cuisine and also offers a fantastic panoramic view of Sölden. From the Moosalm you can strap on the snow-shoes and a forest path leads to the Brunnenbergalm. Hiking time from the Moosalm, 1.5 hours.
Sölden Freizeit Arena – Waldele – Rechenau – Schmiedhof – Kaisers – Schmiedhof – Rechenau – Waldele – Sölden Leisure Arena
From the Sölden Leisure Arena you go right down the Gemeindestrasse to the Hotel Sunny. From there, turn right onto the forest path. This will take you above the meadows through the forest to Kaisers. From Kaisers you can either take the same route back, or take the asphalted road along the Ötztaler Ache via Schmiedhof and Rechenau back to the Sölden Leisure Arena.
