Whether classical or skating style: For the Nordic parade sport cross-country skiing, the Ötztal valley offers fantastic conditions and an ideal altitude for training purposes. Beginners and experts can learn or perfect their technique on 195 km of groomed trails in all degrees of difficulty. In the Ötztal Nordic centre you’ll find the perfect trails that are free to use and thanks to the bus connections, easy to reach. Loipe Obergurgl Pill

Angern – Parkplatz Talstation Hochgurglbahn

Access at the car park of the valley station of the Hochgurglbahn. Even trail on the Pill/Angern valley floor.  Easy to medium ascent via the Issewiesen meadow to the villages of Königsrain and Alt-Poschach. Along the Ötztal ache on the right side back past the Hotel Jagdhof to the car park..


Nordic Sports Arena Niederthai

In the first 1.5 km there are 100 vertical metres leading through the forest to conquer. Then there is an exhilarating descent on the same stretch with steep sections and hairpin curves.


With 4.3 km and a medium difficulty, you have to conquer some descents and climbs on this trail. The route leads you through 20 vertical metres and after 45 minutes above the hamlets of Rechenau and Schmiedhof, along the meadow to Kaisers and back.

Hofer Böden-Windau


1.89 km long, 10 vertical meters and a duration of 20 minutes – the easy route of the Hofer Böden-Windau leads you on a flat course with a trail bridge over the Ötztal Ache and further over the Windau meadows back to the starting point of the trail route.

Hofer Böden-Windau


With a duration of 1 hour and 50 minutes and 10 vertical metres, this is the harder Hofer Böden-Windau route. The classic trail leads you through flat meadows to the Ötztal Ache, over the bridge and through a light forest to Windau. Then you continue over flat meadows until you reach the starting point again. The trail route is designated medium difficulty.


With 6.03 kilometres, 70 vertical metres and an hour duration, the Zwieselstein trail is designated a difficult trail. In the meadows to the Zwieselstein sports field, the trail is laid out for both classical Nordic and skating. It takes you above the Venter Ache to Bodenegg and over a bridge to the other side of the valley and back to Zwieselstein.
